(Enhancing University Research and Entrepreneurial Capacity)
US-Russian “EURECA” Program “Enhancing the research and entrepreneurial capacity of Russian universities by introducing new models of collaboration between US and Russian universities” Is initiated by the US-Russian Foundation on Economic Advancement and the Rule of Law (USRF).
Program is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in accordance with the priorities of the National Education Project and the federal program of the National Research Universities’ Support.
IInd stage: 2013 – 2016
First stage results
The Innovation ecosystems of two Russian higher educational institutions, the participants of the first stage of the EUREСA Зrogram,- St. Petersburg National Research University of information technologies, mechanics and optics (University ITMO) and NIU N.I. Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University (UNN), received the efficient development. The task of integrating the international innovation community, promoting Russian universities in reaching the world standards in accordance to global trends were addressed through program networking activities. Networking conferences, seminars, trainings and site visits, in the framework of the EURECA content areas, helped to raise the innovative and entrepreneurial capacity of the EURECA Program network universities that represent practically all Russian NRUs, Federal Universities and other leading Universities of Russia. EURECA II (2013-2016)
The Program is aimed at: strengthening universities as business structures, setting up mechanisms for establishing effective cooperation with regional authorities and business for the development of regional innovation ecosystems and clusters, developing new models of training personnel for innovation economy with use of the advanced foreign experience, creating universities’ entrepreneurial structures, promoting training and sharing the experience on best practices’ dissemination between universities, and promoting the development of international partnerships between leading Russian and US universities.
New stage objectives:
- To increase the efficiency of scientific-research activities;
- To form the innovative outlook and to develop teachers’, students’, post-graduate students’ and scientists’ entrepreneurial competencies in the scientific and technical research area;
- To create the necessary infrastructure for the transfer of university intellectual products to industry;
- To attract orders on technological scientific research products from business;
- To integrate Russian universities into international research and education community enabling them to achieve educational services’ world level;
- To strengthen the role of universities in regional development and innovation clusters through the development of innovation ecosystem of Russian universities in partnership with the authorities and business;
- To develop strong relationships with venture capital companies and raising capital for start-ups.
